LEGAL BULLSHIT 101 for all thereaders..... So Asia has no issues with bootlegging anything fromAmerica because the Copyright laws and worldwide trademark laws do nothold anyone accountable when infringements happen in Hong Kong or mainland China and a plethora of other areas over there in Asia, anyone who's seen Airmax 97's on Ebay for $35 know what I'm talking about...So on top of my website's address being "bought" up in every variation by some dick head...

All actually bought up by someone is Asia last week who then proceeded to try to sell the addresses back to me. Anyway, so a recent project I did last year with MUSICSKINS.com has recently been ripped of by yet ANOTHER company in Hong Kong( add it to the list). The most fucked up part about all of this is how the laws that keep people's property safe here in America don't apply for shit in Asia. They just simply find what's "cool" and RIP IT OFF..... This has happened to every company from Tommy Hilfiger, to Louis Vuitton, to KAWS, to OBEY to Evisu, you name it... but in a more recent trend many underground and smaller entities are being ripped off, hoping to attract buyers of a younger "cooler" crowd hoping to play off the buyers naivety...

What we see below is the FAKE and OFFICIAL project I did with MUSICSKINS.com which is still on the market. Some people would say "why are you even promoting this?" Well because I believe in pulling people's files even if it's just on general principle.... I would rather point out the fake and give people the option to support the real. Plus I'm bored.....

The world famous and iconic NYC skate spot "The Brooklyn Banks" which ironically isn't even in Brooklyn, but just under the Brooklyn Bridge on the Manhattan side might be a wrap starting this past January due to construction on the bridge above... One can't tell at this point but being put onto this video of Mike hearing about the construction, he hopped on a plane and came to NYC and shot this pretty emotional video about his memories and importance of this place... Which brought me to do some of my own research on the banks, it's crazy to see now in 2010 the impact the banks has on the culture of skateboarding. They actually made little toy replicas of the banks! Not to mention at some point they even turned the area into a legitimate area dedicated to skateboarding. Prior to that happening I'm thinking around 99??? they turned it into a parking lot for police cars hoping that would deter the kids from coming through and ripping the place up.... anyways, here's some pics I found while taking a skate down memory lane of this historic NYC Skate spot....

that's bananas to me..... all it's missing is a CYCLE throw up...

Shep knows the deal.... coming from Rhode Island( I think ) I'm pretty sure he would come out to skate the banks in the 90's.

Just seeing this also blows me away ( no rainbow ) that this place actually had huge organized events. Back before all of this it was just a dirty ass shadowed area under a highway that coulda' been an excluded scene for the movie KIDS. Knuckleheads, fights, kids getting vicked for their boards and shoes daily, a local's only feeling that if you weren't down with the regulars you weren't snaking anyone for a run, you played your position and waited for your turn. On top of that street rule, the swagger some of these guys had was that they could kill anyone wit their bare hands, take their board and skate away like nothin, you really weren't fuckin' with these guys. But that was the animal that NYC was back then.... Long gone now. Now the "scene" is a block long line of Asian kids lining up for a pair of exclusive NIKE SB's and a Supreme hat when they don't even know how to skate. Oh no wait, this week it's all about solid black track bikes... What's around the bend? Extreme power knitting? don't even laugh, shit is fucked up now in the rotten apple....

Tony aka SUB DF studio visit....

A friend of mine came by my studio space last week and put a blog entry up on his visit to my place, with pictures that he took of inspirational things he saw here... I thought it was a cool idea so I decided at my next pit stop through my man's spot I would do the same. Sub DF has been a long time inspiration for me, man, gotta be dating back to probably 92' when I was first introduced to his walls, meeting around 94 and kept in touch ever since. In 95' I asked him his opinion about my work and what he thinks would be a good move for me to study in college, his response - "Yo man, you should do animation, you see all this shit on MTV these days? The industry is booming right now" This was the days of Liquid Television, and shows like Aeon Flux, Ren & Stimpy, and The Head, who another of our friends Ted had been working on... So needless to say I looked up to these guys and followed Tony's suggestion going into a four year focus on traditional animation. I call it a blessing and a curse, in that I got a grasp of the industry and how to make something come to life, the amount of work involved and the know how etc etc. A SHIT LOAD OF WORK!!! But from learning this I know IF AND WHEN I do take that step again, to do it in a better , faster way by utilizing the programs out now that weren't out back in the 90's like After Effects, Blender 3d, Cinema 4D... So for those things... in good time...

Moving on, here's some images from Sub's place, and a couple sneak peaks at a project he is working on that I couldn;t show actually until the project goes public. I was able to shoot a few images of some still life references though. For the rest you'll have to use your imagination and just wait till everything goes public... Sit back and enjoy a look into the work space of someone I respect and have watched grow and develop over the past 15 years. Wish I could show more but this will have to do....
