The machine is oiled and running smoothly in 5th gear for a minute now. I keep thinking about 2 years ago how this nutty "broad" had me so tied up I only did 1 fucking painting for a whole damn year while all up in that madness. Distracted by a whole lotta sugar coated bullshit. At least now I know the signs of that shit and can run as fast I can in the opposite direction by any means! The older I get the more of an understanding I get from all this "art" shit and how necessary it is in my life for me to be able to do it. I don't know what I would do if I couldn't get these silly images onto a wall or canvas or just gett'm out of my head onto somethin so they can be free from runnin around making my mind cluttered.
     The reasoning why I jumped head first into doing canvases was because a bunch of graffiti arrests back to back in '00 & '01 caused me to re channel my energy and ironically sold a piece last week that could have paid off all the 8 case's legal fees and still have plenty or loot left for future arrests, but let's not get into any of that.   
     I just read a small bio from an artist I used to know who passed away this weekend, and it was sad to see he had come to the same conclusion as I mentioned above. A string of graffiti arrests forced him into doing alot of canvas works and he even had a few local shows.  He called himself  "a star waiting to be discovered".  Unfortunately in some cases our stardom is only discovered by our peers, and alot of times the bank account doesn't reflect the amount of respect or envy you have from all the people around you, friend or foe.  So unfortunately I think homeboy passed away in a sad state of mind.... Big up SEMZ, I hope your in a better place where you can do what you love, free of all boundaries.    Rest in peace kid.
